University Heights: Building Applications Filed with DOB for New, Four-Story Building at 54 Clinton Place

Building applications have been filed with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) for a new, four-story residential building at 54 Clinton Place in the University Heights section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY. Located between Grand Avenue and Aqueduct Avenue East, the lot is a 6-minute walk from the 183rd Street subway station, served by the 4 train. Alfred Cejku of 2A Mechanical Inc. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

South Bronx: Angellyh Yambo Foundation Partners for Back-to-School Giveaway

A back-to-school giveaway was held at La Central YMCA on Saturday, Sept. 7, in partnership with the Office of the Bronx Borough President, the Angellyh Yambo Foundation, Metroplus Health, RomoGIS, The Hub Third Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) and the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau. Families were invited to bring along their kids for a day of fun, games, and of course a backpack giveaway to coincide with the start of the school year. 

NYC Parks Cuts Ribbon on Renovated Orchard Beach Nature Center

NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue joined State Sen. Nathalia Fernandez (S.D. 80), State Assemblymember Michael Benedetto (A.D. 82), Community Board 10 Parks Committee Chair Terence Franklin, and the Urban Park Rangers on Aug. 8 to celebrate the reopening of the Orchard Beach Nature Center in Pelham Bay Park following a $2.35 reconstruction project.

UPDATE Three Men Murdered in 4 Days of Each Other a Few Blocks Apart

Two murder investigations are underway after a 35-year-old man was shot dead in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx and within 7 hours, a 32-year-old man was also shot dead in Fordham Heights. One of the fatal victims is from University Heights, the other from Morris Heights.
