New York City School Buildings Open Wednesday, Feb 3

Following the recent snow storm, the New York City Department of Education (DoE) announced on Tuesday, Feb. 2., that New York City district elementary, early childhood education, and District 75 buildings will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, February 3, 2021. All programs and activities will be held as scheduled. Takeout and community meals will resume at all locations. DoE thanked all custodial engineers and custodial staff who are out in full force today to shovel snow, clear sidewalks, and ensure the buildings are ready for staff and students to safely return tomorrow.  

Van Cortlandt Park: Daylight Robbery of Livery Driver

The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the man seen in the attached photo and video who is sought in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred in the 50th precinct.   On Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 at 1 p.m., in the vicinity of Hudson Parkway and Mosholu Parkway, in Van Cortlandt Park, a 28-year old male livery driver stopped to offer assistance to a vehicle that appeared to have mechanical trouble on the side of the road. Fordham Manor: Search for Woman following Robbery

The New York City Police Departs is asking the public’s assistance in identifying the woman seen in the attached photos in connection with a robbery that occurred in the 52nd precinct.   On Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at approximately 6.47 a.m., in front of 83 West Fordham Road in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx, an unidentified woman approached a 35-year-old female victim, punched her about the body and forcibly removed her jacket. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound on West Fordham Road towards Jerome Avenue. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention on scene.

Update: Bronx Man Charged Over Fatal Shooting In Fordham Heights

Bronx District Attorney, Darcel D. Clark, announced on Monday, Feb. 1 that a Bronx man has been charged for fatally shooting another man in Fordham Heights the day after Christmas.   Clark said the defendant, Marquis Tanner, 30, of East 184th Street, was arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon before Bronx Supreme Court Justice, Michael Gross, on Jan. 29. 2021. Gun Hill Houses: Search for Man Wanted in Connection to Shooting

  The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual seen in the attached surveillance video and photo in connection with a reckless endangerment incident that occurred in the 47th precinct.   It was reported to police that on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at around 2.38 p.m., an unidentified individual discharged a firearm multiple times in a hallway inside 735 Magenta Street (Gun Hill Houses). Update: Mayor Issues State of Emergency Restricting Travel ahead of Snow Storm

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a state of emergency on Sunday, Jan. 31, ahead of Monday’s expected snow storm, including restrictions on non-essential travel beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1. Catholic Elementary Schools to Close Monday, Feb. 1, Due to Impending Snow Storm

On Sunday, Jan. 31, the Archdiocese of New York said all Catholic elementary schools in the archdiocese would be closed Monday, Feb. 1, due to the expected major snow storm. MTA Prepared for Snow Storm but Urges New Yorkers to Stay at Home if Possible

With Monday’s winter storm expected to bring more than a foot of snow, heavy winds and potential coastal flooding, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) issued an update on Sunday, Jan. 31, on agency-wide preparations being made to keep customers and employees safe while delivering as much reliable service as possible.   Metro-North late-night service will end early on Monday evening.
