UPDATE Wakefield: 31-Year-Old Man Shot Dead

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in Wakefield. An NYPD spokesperson said, “On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at approximately 22.46 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male shot in front of 686 East 234 Street, within the confines of the 47 Precinct.” The official added, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 31-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the torso.” EMS reportedly responded to the location and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police officials said there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, July 12, that a Bronx man has been charged with second-degree murder and additional charges for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife, a New York City police officer, in her home. Clark said the defendant, Argenis Baez, 33, last of Sedgwick Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights, was arraigned on Tuesday, on second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Ralph Fabrizio. An SUV flipped upside down at 2763 Morris Avenue in Bedford Park in the early hours of Saturday morning when a 22-year-old male driver collided with three parked cars on the street, according to police.
