Starting in 2018, New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) launched a citywide carshare pilot program in accordance with Local Law 47 of 2017 and Local Law 50 of 2017, designating over 280 parking spaces for carshare vehicles. A 58-year-old scooter driver is in critical condition in hospital and a second 60-year-old male scooter driver was also injured after a collision in the South Bronx involving two scooters and an MTA bus on the morning of Juneteenth, June 19. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officials reminds the public that comments on proposed changes to fares and tolls can be submitted online. In addition, they said a series of four hybrid public fare hearings will be held between Thursday, June 22, and Monday, June 26. An affordable housing lottery is open for units in a newly constructed, 8-story building, Gun Hill Road Apartments, located at 739 East Gun Hill Road in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx. Designed by Marin Architects and developed by RYTY Home Builders, according to YIMBY, the structure yields 134 residential units and 69 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect, the online portal for New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) are 41 affordable housing units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible annual incomes from $73,886 to $227,630.

Resident, Helen Krim, has contacted Norwood News to raise an urgent voting issue which she believes may mislead voters of City Council District 11. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached photo who department officials say is sought in connection with the theft of a vehicle in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx, and later an assault on two police officers in the Van Nest section. Several hundred public school teachers and NYC Department of Education (DOE) employees gathered in Parkchester on May 24, as other school employees assembled at similar rallies across the City the same day, to demand a new employment contract with the City, a salary increase, less bureaucracy and smaller class sizes. The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached photos who they say is sought in connection to a robbery that occurred in Kingsbridge Heights.
