UPDATE Bronx Park: Man Dies following Car Accident

A 50-year-old man has died following a car accident in the vicinity of Bronx Park.

 

Police said on Sunday, Feb. 6, at approximately 5.13 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle collision on the southbound Bronx River Parkway at East Fordham Road. Upon arrival, they observed a vehicle that had been involved in a collision and a 50-year-old man with serious injuries.

 

EMS also responded and transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

 

The victim has since been identified as Dennis Alaribe, 50, of De Kruiff Place, in the Co-op City section of The Bronx.

 

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad investigations handles all criminal investigations, while NYC Department of Transportation reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.

 

Norwood News reached out to the NYPD to ask whether the initial investigation indicates a hit & run incident, or it it was a one-vehicle collision. A department official responded on Tuesday, Feb. 8, saying there were no further updates at this time.
