Allerton: 80-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Accident

An 80-year-old female pedestrian has died following a a motor vehicle collision in the Allerton section of The Bronx, police said.

Police said that on Thursday, Nov. 13, at around 12.20 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian struck in the vicinity of Holland Avenue and Allerton Avenue.

 

They said that further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2005 Honda Odyssey, driven by a 56-year-old male driver was traveling northbound on Holland Avenue, made a left turn to travel westbound on Allerton Avenue, and proceeded to strike the victim.

 

They said she was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in critical condition where she was later pronounced deceased. They said the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, there are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.

 

The deceased was identified as Rose Young, 80, of Allerton.

 

With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigations, while DOT reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
