A 32-year-old male motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle collision involving an MTA bus close to Tracey Towers in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx, police say. Separately, at least two videos posted to two different social media platforms have made reference to a nearby daytime police chase seemingly insinuating that the chase resulted in the subsequent motorcycle crash with the bus. Norwood News is unable to confirm if there is any direct link between the two incidents, given the timing of each.

In reference to the Bedford Park crash, when contacted, an NYPD spokesperson said the department received a call regarding a vehicle collision on Wednesday, April 8, at around 5.14 p.m. in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and West Mosholu Parkway South, which is the location of the Mosholu Parkway subway station and adjacent to Tracey Towers.

He said a 2019 Novabus (MTA bus) driven by a 30-year-old female bus driver was traveling eastbound on West Mosholu Parkway South when a 2025 Zhilong motorcycle, driven by a 32-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Jerome Avenue, made a left turn onto West Mosholu Parkway South against the flow of traffic, and struck that front driver side of the MTA bus.

“The operator (driver) was ejected from the motorcycle, sustained severe head trauma, and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in Belmont where he was later pronounced deceased,” the spokesperson said. “There were no other injuries reported. The bus remained on scene.”

The spokesperson said the victim was identified as Andy Peralta from the Charlotte Gardens section of The Bronx.

In a follow-up written report of the incident, the NYPD said that further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that at around 5.10 p.m. officers assigned to the 52nd Precinct had observed a 2025 Zhilong motorcycle, driven by 32-year-old man in the vicinity of East 205th Street and Jerome Avenue traveling opposite the flow of traffic.

“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle when the operator made a U-turn and fled from the officers,” a spokesperson said. “The 2025 Zhilong motorcycle proceeded northbound on Jerome Avenue and made a left turn onto West Mosholu Parkway South, traveling westbound, opposite the flow of traffic, when it struck the front driver side corner of a 2019 Novabus (MTA Bus), operated by a 30-year-old female, that was traveling eastbound on West Mosholu Parkway South.”

They said there are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division.

We had earlier asked how many passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident, and an NYPD spokesperson said there were around 20 passengers and none were injured.

AN EXTRACT FROM a video posted to social media shows a police vehicle seemingly in pursuit of a motorcyclist in an undated photo while another vehicle seems to cross in front of the police vehicle in a U-turn seemingly in efforts to slow down the police vehicle and allow the motorcyclist to gain some ground. The video appears to be at the Grand Concourse tunnel at East 204th Street in Bedford Park, not too far from Tracey Towers.

The location of the accident is quite a busy area for buses with a few different bus stops located there. We spoke to the security guard and some residents of Tracey Towers on Thursday, April 9, to ask if they had seen or heard the accident but they had not. Norwood News also reached out to the MTA for comment. They had none and referred us to the NYPD.

With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of these crashes.

A USER ON social media who posted a video seemingly of police in pursuit of a motorcycle also posted in the same post this photo of a damaged motorcycle at a site cordoned off by police tape. The location and date is unknown but appears to correspond to the scene of a bus-motorcycle crash at Jerome Avenue and Mosholu Parkway in the Norwood section of The Bronx which occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Meanwhile, when contacted, an EMS spokesperson said the department received a call at 5.14 p.m. on April 8 for a report of a vehicle accident with serious injuries at Jerome Avenue and Mosholu Parkway, Bronx. “One civilian with critical injuries transported to St. Barnabas Hospital,” the spokesperson said, adding that they had no additional information on the person’s description or condition.

Separately, on Instagram, a social media user posted a short video of a motorcyclist seemingly being pursued by a police car as it enters a tunnel and another car crossing in front of the police car and making a U-turn inside the tunnel seemingly in an attempt to slow down the police car from pursuing the motorcycle.

The video appears to have been taken at East 204th Street and Grand Concourse in Bedford Park and the accompanying narrative for the post reads, “NYPD needs to be investigated and every cop on that scene. Andy was chased to death, not just recklessly driving. He was not a delinquent, actually a hard working man. with a registered vehicle. NYC knows how NYPD is. Justice4Andy.”

The post was followed by a heart emoji and the hashtags “#nypd #chase #viral.” The IG user in question regularly posts videos and images of various motorcyclists riding their vehicles and “popping wheelies” i.e. elevating the motorcycles onto the rear wheel like in the attached example. The user also tagged another group in the post, whose account is private.

Norwood News reached out to the user who posted the video of the apparent police chase to ask where and when the video was taken and if the rider of the motorcycle is Andy Peralta. We also contacted the NYPD to ask if the victim of the Bedford Park crash was being pursued by police prior to the accident. We were provided with the above summary of the incident and informed again “there are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division.”

As reported, on the same day as the fatal motorcycle-bus accident took place in Bedford Park, former NYPD Sgt. Erik Duran was sentenced to 5 to 9 years at Bronx Criminal Court for throwing a water / picnic cooler at Eric Duprey in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx in August 2023 during an undercover drug bust operation, causing Duprey to fall of a bike / scooter and die. Duran had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in February of this year.

THE RED MARKER indicates the location of Tracey Towers relative to a tunnel by Grand Concourse and East 204th Street in Bedford Park, potentially the site of a possible police chase recorded on a video and posted to social media.
