Emergency services said one person was hospitalized following a car accident, seemingly involving two vehicles, in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx on Thursday, Oct. 23.

An FDNY / EMS spokesperson said that emergency services received a call at 2.12 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a motor vehicle accident at the Grand Concourse and East 187th Street, close to the historical Loews Paradise Cinema building.

The spokesperson said one person was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Shattered glass and various car parts were seen scattered along the Grand Concourse.

When contacted for more information about the accident, we were informed by the NYPD that the department may not necessarily have received a report from the Collision Investigation Squad (CIS) if potentially the collision was not that serious. We don’t know if the patient who was hospitalized was gravely injured or not. We will share any additional information we receive.

One man we spoke to at the scene said he did not see the accident unfold but said he was informed by another person that the white, pictured car was allegedly entering the Grand Concourse from the east side on East 187th Street and was rear-ended by a another dark-colored vehicle which was traveling southbound along the Grand Concourse.

The white vehicle appeared to have mounted a bollard and had fairly substantial damage to its rear. Its air bags were seen deployed inside the stationary vehicle. Norwood News cannot corroborate that this is actually what occurred only what a bystander told us. We will share any additional official information we receive.

Speaking in French, two employees working at Maria’s Beauty Supply said they didn’t see the accident but heard a loud bang when it happened and then a flurry of activity as police and emergency services arrived on the scene.

Another person said neither driver had reportedly left the scene of the accident and that the dark-colored, referenced vehicle had already been removed by a truck operator by the time Norwood News arrived on site.
