Yankee Stadium Vaccination Site Opens Friday, Feb. 5

Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) confirmed on Thursday, Feb. 4 that the Yankee Stadium COVID-19 vaccination site will open Feb. 5. Appointment slots are available now at the link below for Bronx residents only. CB 7 said it is expected the vaccination doses will go quickly.

 

The use of the stadium is a joint effort between New York State, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, The Yankees, Somos Community Care, and the New York National Guard, and it is hoped the site will help expedite vaccine distribution and alleviate the borough’s sustained battle against the spread of the coronavirus.

 

According to Somos Community Care, vaccine supply is currently limited and, therefore, subject to strict prioritization in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and New York State Department of Health directives. Only the following groups are eligible to seek vaccination in accordance with the New York State (NYS) Department of Health prioritization plan:

  • Workers in ambulatory care settings not affiliated with a hospital, including primary care, behavioral health, phlebotomy, physical and occupational therapy, specialty clinics, and dialysis centers
  • Includes all workers with direct contact with patients in ambulatory settings, including licensed health care workers, receptionists, and environmental staff
  • Funeral workers with direct contact with infectious materials and bodily fluids
  • Healthcare workers at COVID-testing sites
  • Public health workers with direct patient care responsibilities
  • Home care workers and aides, hospice workers, personal care aides, and consumer-directed personal care workers
  • Teachers and education workers
  • First responders
  • Public safety workers
  • Public transit workers
  • Grocery store workers
  • People ages 65 and older

 

Note anybody being vaccinated must bring a photo ID and a health insurance card, if held, to the appointment. Proof of eligibility for the vaccine is also required at the appointment. This can include an employee ID card, a letter from an employer or affiliated organization, or a pay stub.

As previously reported by Norwood News, other vaccination sites are also available in the Bronx. However, vaccination supplies are low.
