The NYPD has confirmed that a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing in the Woodstock section of the Bronx, located in the 40th precinct, has been found.

It had been reported to police that Krystal Crespo of Woodstock had last been seen on Monday, Sept. 27, at approximately 7.30 p.m., inside her home.

A reader reached out to the Norwood News on Oct. 29 to confirm Krystal had been found. We checked with police at the time but they did not confirm. We were again contacted on Nov. 12 to say Krystal had been found, and police subsequently confirmed the same day that this was the case.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. Just a minor correction. That section of the South Bronx is called Melrose, and NOT Woodstock. Woodstock is nowhere’s near 815 East 152 Street. Woodstock (aka Bethel) is way upstate in New York, That’s where they had a rock concert back in 1969 known as the Woodstock Music & Arts Fair.

Please make a note for same.

      Hi Joe,

Thanks for your comment. Honestly, we usually go with whatever Google Maps displays as the border for each neighborhood, and in this case, it shows that the address in question falls within the neighborhood border of Woodstock, and that Melrose is to the west of it, but we are happy to be corrected if you are more familiar with the area? I can’t attach the screen shots of the maps showing the borders here, but have emailed them to you directly.

      Thanks,

      Síle
