The NYPD said they have made an arrest following a sexually motivated burglary in the Wakefield section of The Bronx in May, involving an 8-year-old girl.
As reported, police had been asking for the public’s help identifying the man seen in the attached photo who they said was wanted for questioning in connection with the incident.
Police said that on Monday, May 25, at around 5.11 a.m. an 8-year-old female victim was sleeping at her home in the vicinity of De Reimer Avenue and Bussing Avenue when an unidentified person broke in through her bedroom window. “The victim awoke to the person exposing himself and performing a lewd act before fleeing the [.] location on foot, traveling eastbound on Bussing Avenue to parts unknown,” a police spokesperson said. There were no physical injuries reported following the incident.
Police said the suspect is described as male, has a medium complexion, and was last seen wearing a black sweater with a white logo, black pants, a gray skullcap, and black sneakers.
On June 9, pursuant to an ongoing investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Tishawn Maile, 35.
On Sunday, July 19, police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Maile, who has a Wakefield address, was arrested on Friday, July 17, at 11 p.m. in the confines of the 47th Precinct, which covers Wakefield, among other north Bronx neighborhoods.
They said he was charged with three counts of burglary, five counts of sexual abuse, forcible touching, public lewdness, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of criminal trespassing, trespass, and harassment.
Maile is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
