UPDATE Williamsbridge: Man, 26, Dies following Shooting, 2nd Man Shot in Leg

Police have identified the 26-year-old man who died following a fatal shooting in Williamsbridge on Thursday, June 29.

 

As reported, according to the NYPD, on June 29 at around 00.32 a.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at East 213th Street and Holland Avenue.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right leg,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, in stable condition. Further investigation revealed a second victim from the incident location, a 26-year-old male, was transported, via private means, to Montefiore Medical Center, with sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder.”

 

Police said the second man was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. They said there were no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

On July 1, the deceased was identified as Justin Rodriguez of East 214th Street in Williamsbridge. They said there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

The day after this shooting occurred on Friday, June 30, as reported, there was another shooting in an area close to this first shooting at 213th Street and White Plains Road in nearby Olinville in which a 5-year-old girl was shot in the back while seated in a car with her father. She is in stable condition, police officials said.. It is unknown if the two incidents are related.
