UPDATE Williamsbridge: 20-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot on Bronxwood Avenue

A 20-year-old man has died following a daylight shooting in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx, police said.

 

A police spokesperson said that on Thursday, April 17, at around 1.33 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at 3724 Bronxwood Avenue [a corner deli] by East 217th Street.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 20-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the neck and chest,” the spokesperson said, adding that EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in Morris Park, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Police said there are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

We spoke to some workers at the deli on Thursday night but they were not working at the time the shooting occurred. We spoke to some other residents also but they had not been at home when the incident took place and didn’t know anything about what had happened.

 

Other residents declined to comment. The deceased has since been identified as Sorai King of Williamsbridge, The Bronx.
