The 58-year-old man whose body was discovered in the West Farms section of The Bronx has been identified as Jose Burgos, police said, adding that the investigation into his death has been deemed a homicide.
A police spokesperson said that on Monday, June 16, at around 10.30 a.m., officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an aided man inside an Elsmere Place residential building.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 58-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the back,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased at the scene. Police said the City’s chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
On Wednesday, June 18, police identified Burgos, said he lived at the Elsmere Place address where his body was discovered, and added that there are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
