UPDATE Norwood: One Person Arrested after Youth Gets Slashed in Face amid Dispute

The NYPD said a 36-year-old man has been arrested following an assault n Norwood.

 

As reported, police had been asking for the public’s help identifying the individual seen in the attached photo and video who they say is sought in connection to an assault that occurred in Norwood.

 

Police said that that on Monday, Feb. 19, at around 7.30 p.m., In front of 3090 Decatur Avenue, an unidentified individual approached a 17-year-old male and got into a verbal dispute with him. They said as the dispute escalated, the individual struck the victim in the left side of his face with an unknown sharp object causing a laceration. They said the suspect then fled on foot towards Mosholu Parkway North and the victim was taken St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said Edwin Cordero of 353 East Mosholu Parkway North was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 11.05 a.m. They said he was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
