Also, nearby, sand was seen on top of some liquid stains on the pavement, and the stains looked like they had possibly been washed or had some solution poured on top of them.

Norwood News spoke to a man working in a local store who declined to be identified and asked if he had seen or heard the incident earlier that day. He said he had checked his surveillance video camera footage but that it did not capture the stabbing.

He then said, “It was about six of them,” explaining that a group of young people had earlier entered his store.

“There was two girls, one light-skinned girl and one Black girl,” he said. “The other kid was a light-skinned kid. I don’t know if he was Dominican, Spanish, I don’t know, and the other three kids were Black.”

He added, “So they came in here and I told them, ‘What do you guys want?'” He said they didn’t really respond with words and indicated that they sort of shrugged. He said he asked them how old they were and one of them who was wearing a mask looked at him. He said he asked again how old they were, adding later that in his opinion, they must have all been under the age of 18. He said the youngster said to him, “Oh we got IDs.”

Describing the young group as “young cats/kids(?),” he added that he told them to leave the store as he didn’t believe any of them were over 18 and that they duly left.

He continued, “So, the two girls came back. I was with them and tells me that some guy grabbed her behind, and the boyfriend took and boom, and they jumped the kid and they stabbed him and did whatever they did.”

Asked if the girls were panicked when they entered his store the second time and if they had asked the man to call the police. “They didn’t know what was going on, like they were just talking [among themselves], and then they came in here and they were nervous,” the man said, adding that he noticed they were nervous and asked them what was wrong.

He continued, “[She said], ‘No, some guy got fresh with me and my boyfriend and his friend, they’re beating him up’.” The man said the girls didn’t want him to call the cops or anyone. “They got fresh with her and she was like… and they did what they had to do,” he said. “I don’t know and that was it. After that, they just walked out.” He added that he had asked them to leave. “I don’t want no problems in here,” he said, adding that the girls said they didn’t want to give him any problems.

The man said the store had only opened on Tuesday, April 7. Asked if he, himself, had gone outside to see what had happened, he said he had not as he was alone and couldn’t leave the store unattended.

He added that the incident took place too far up the street and he couldn’t see on his camera what had happened. The man also alleged the incident took place “over the hill” on Mosholu in front of the last building before the next left turn [onto Kossuth Avenue], which is not the address for 25 East Mosholu Parkway North but a different street number.

We asked if the police had viewed the store’s cameras and the man said the police already knew the store’s cameras would not have captured the incident as the angle was not wide enough.
