UPDATE Mt Hope: One Man Dead, One Woman Critical, and One Man Stable following Triple Shooting

One man has died, one woman is in critical condition, and a third man is recovering from his injuries in stable condition following an early morning, triple shooting in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx.

 

On Tuesday, May 3, at approximately 00.46 a.m., police responded to a 911 report regarding two people who had been shot inside 6 East Burnside Avenue.

 

Upon arrival, officers observed three people who had been shot inside the location. The first victim was a 31-year-old man who was shot in the head and upper torso area. The second victim, a 34-year-old man, was shot in the left arm. The third victim, a 34-year-old woman, was shot in the torso.

 

EMS responded to the location and pronounced the 31-year-old man deceased at the scene. They transported the other two victims to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where the 34-year-old man remains in stable condition and the 34-year-old woman remains in critical condition. A person of interest was taken into custody and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

Later on Tuesday, police confirmed that Edison Cruz, 25, of Andrews Avenue in the University Heights section of The Bronx, was arrested in the context of the investigation and has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.

 

On Monday, May 9, the NYPD announced the identification of the deceased as David Scott, 31, of Walton Avenue in Fordham Heights.
