Update: Man Arrested on Murder Charges in Death of 27-Year-Old Man Shot in Neck in Claremont

On Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at approximately 1.07 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a person who had been shot in front of 1779 Fulton Avenue in the Claremont section of the Bronx, in the 42nd precinct.

 

Upon arrival, officers observed a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his neck, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the scene and transported the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Jamal W. Hunter, 27, of Faile Street in the Foxhurst section of the Bronx, NY.

 

No arrests were initially made and the investigation had been ongoing.

 

On Monday, Jan. 18, police confirmed Curtis Quincy, 27, of East 137th Street in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx was arrested on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a loaded firearm on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at 9.30 p.m. in the 42nd precinct.

 

An arrest is not proof that a person is guilty of a crime.
