A 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man have been arrested on murder charges in connection with a homicide that occurred in Fordham Heights on Sunday, June 6,

 

On June 14, police confirmed that Fatimah Adegoke, 20, of Yonkers was arrested on charges of murder, manslaughter, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon

On June 9,  Marlon Gardner, 23, of New Rochelle, had been arrested on charges of murder, manslaughter, robbery, burglary and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

On Sunday, June 6, at around 2.14 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot inside a building on Tiebout Avenue, located in the Bronx’s 46th precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 40-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the torso.

 

EMS responded and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

 

The deceased was identified as Edward Campbell, 40, of Tiebout Avenue in the Bronx.

 

A person arrested and accused of a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.

 

As of June 6, shooting incidents in the 46th precinct were up by 100 percent for the preceding 28 days, while the number of shooting victims was up by 133 percent in the precinct over the same period.

 

Meanwhile, as reported, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark organized an anti gun violence rally in nearby Fordham Manor on Friday, June 4. She was joined by cure violence groups like BRAG, community groups like VIP community services, clergy and the NYPD.

 

The event was to mark Gun Violence Awareness Month as May saw a 271 percent increase in shooting victims in the Bronx, compared to the same period last year.
