UPDATE Fordham Heights: One Arrested following Fatal Stabbing

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached video who they say is wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 at 2415 Creston Avenue in Fordham Heights.

NYPD officials said a 31-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a second 61-year-old man in Fordham Heights.

 

As reported, police had been asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached video and photo who they said was sought for questioning in connection with the incident.

 

As reported, police said that on Friday, Jan. 5, at around 1.30 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been assaulted at 2415 Creston Avenue.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 61-year-old male with multiple stab wounds about the neck and torso,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.”

 

Police later said the 61-year-old male victim had been followed by an as yet unidentified suspect into a building located in the vicinity of Creston Avenue and East 184th Street. A police spokesperson added that after the assault, “The male individual then left the building and fled to unknown whereabouts.”

Police said there were no immediate arrests and the investigation remained ongoing. They said the victim was later identified as Tyrone Padilla of Creston Avenue in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx.

 

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Gregory Hightower, 31, of Brooklyn was arrested the same day at 3.35 p.m., in the 46th Precinct. They said he was charged with murder.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
