Dallas BBQ restaurant, located at 281 West Fordham Road in Fordham Manor, has closed, though it was seen operating as normal around the end of last year. Since the closure, graffiti has sprung up around the location, which is the former site of Jimmy’s Bronx Café.
A notice on its website reads, “Sadly, we have closed the Fordham Road Dallas BBQ. This was our first location in The Bronx and ran for over 20 years. Come by Co-Op City, Washington Heights, or any other Dallas BBQ location where we are open and thriving.”

It continued in part, “All Fordham Road employees have been offered an opportunity to work at other Dallas BBQ locations, so look out for friendly faces around NYC and NJ. Thank you to everyone who ate here, celebrated here, worked here, and made this place what it was.”
The message continued, “The love was real, and we’ll never forget it. Unfortunately, we could never resolve COVID issues there and the landlord has other plans to redevelop the building site.”

The building is connected to the “Salsa Con Fuego” business which also appeared closed Jan. 11, though possibly temporarily. There never seemed to be any parking on the adjacent four streets to the location, but now, parking is available everywhere. Norwood News noticed one car at the site that looked to be potentially stolen in that it had no plates, had a half dozen or more tickets on its windshield, and one of the car windows seemed to be partially open. Two weeks earlier, just two cars were parked at the site, including the same stolen-looking car.
The site is not far from where the first of two Fordham Landing redevelopment sites was due to commence last year but, as reported, Dynamic Star LLC, the developer behind the project, ended up in court filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early December 2025. This was despite Gov. Kathy Hochul announcing in October 2025 a $55 million Empire State Development (ESD) investment to advance the Fordham Landing South, Phase I site.

The project was due to result in a “transformative,” 100 percent-affordable housing project along the Harlem River by University Heights bridge and Fordham Road.
