UPDATE Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of 34-Year-Old Man in Norwood

Police have charged a 36-year-old man in the ongoing murder investigation following an early morning fatal shooting in Norwood.

 

On Friday, April 22, at approximately 1.28 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot near the corner of East Gun Hill Road and Webster Avenue in Norwood.

 

Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the torso. EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

 

A 36-year-old male, a person of interest, was taken into custody in the vicinity of the incident location and a gun was recovered. The investigation remains ongoing.

 

The deceased has since been identified as Jonathan Maldonado,  34, from the vicinity of Gun Hill Houses in The Bronx.

 

Later on Friday, the NYPD confirmed that Supreme Williams, a 36-year-old man living on East 217th Street in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
