Jose Gonzalez Found Guilty of Killing EMT Yadira Arroyo

Fordham Heights resident, Jose Gonzalez, was found guilty by a jury on Wednesday, March 8, of the murder of FDNY Emergency Medical Technician, Yadira Arroyo, who he ran over with her ambulance nearly six years ago, according to the Office of the Bronx District Attorney. Darcel Clark, Bronx district attorney, announced the news the same day. Dinowitz & BetaNYC Launch New Map Showing Accessible City Playgrounds

District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz, in partnership with BetaNYC, has launched a new mapping tool which shows the level of playground accessibility for residents near their homes and schools. The map was designed to provide an easy way for residents and their families to locate playgrounds that are safe and accessible and to accommodate those with disabilities.   The new mapping tool includes detailed information about each playground throughout New York City, including the types of accessible features that are available at each playground. UPDATE Judge Finds Jose Gonzalez Fit to Stand Trial for Alleged Killing of EMT, Yadira Arroyo

Bronx District Attorney, Darcel D. Clark, announced on Wednesday, Sept. 21, that Jose Gonzalez has been found fit to stand trial for the alleged murder of EMT, Yadira Arroyo. NYC Parks & FDNY Rename Blackrock Playground in Honor of EMT Yadira Arroyo 

Friends and family members of the late Yadira Arroyo were joined by community members and elected officials to officially rename Blackrock Playground, in Unionport, in honor of the FDNY Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on Thursday, May 27.   Arroyo, a 14-year FDNY Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), was a dedicated leader and public servant who gave her life for the community.   She was tragically killed in the line of duty on March 16, 2017, one block from Blackrock Playground. Street Renamed for NYPD Det. Miosotis Familia

Top city officials were once again in the Bronx in the span of three weeks to rename a street, this time in honor fallen NYPD Det. Miosotis Familia who was shot to death by an assailant with an apparent mental illness.  Familia, 48, who was posthumously promoted to detective, was remembered with a street sign on Ryer Avenue and East 181st Street, in front of the 46th Precinct, where she was stationed. Funeral for EMT Killed in Line of Duty

A sea of blue intertwined with thousands of New Yorkers paying their final respects to fallen EMT, Yadira Arroyo, in a funeral procession on March 25. Arroyo died after being run over by a crazed man who hijacked her ambulance in the Soundview section of the Bronx on March 16.
