Residents preparing to celebrate Mother’s Day at the Allerton Avenue building where a 25-year-old resident was shot and killed hours earlier were in disbelief that the fatal shooting occurred outside their front door.

Police have opened a homicide investigation after a 25-year-old man died in the Allerton section of the Bronx following a shooting on Saturday night.
