The supermarket chain, Stop & Shop, is expanding its reach in the Bronx, announcing a new pick-up location in Crotona at 961 East 174th Street on Tuesday, March 30. The new Crotona store joins the first Bronx Stop & Shop store at Castle City, located at 1720 Eastchester Rd., which opened in January, as reported by Norwood News.

The store concept brings a certain level of comfort to both the public and employees in terms of its novel approach to shopping by minimizing contact with crowds.

Customers can order their groceries online, schedule a pick-up time at the store, and avoid going inside and intermingling with other customers and staff. Customers can visit www.stopandshop.com, or the Stop & Shop mobile app, click on ‘order online’ and select “pick-up” at their preferred store location.

They can then head to the store at their chosen pick-up time, park in a designated pick-up spot, and call to let the store team know they have arrived. Stop & Shop team members will then deliver the order right to their car.

Chris Liberatore is the store manager of the new Stop & Shop store in Crotona. “We’re excited to offer our customers the convenience of shopping online for all their favorite items, and then picking up that order from the comfort of their vehicle,” he said. “We hope this service helps make things easier for them.”

Stop & Shop representatives said that the store is continuing to apply its pick-up policy, keeping associate and customer safety in mind. Customers are asked to have their trunk or door open for associates to place groceries directly into the vehicle, and customers are also encouraged to wear masks and limit the number of people in their vehicle, when possible.

In addition, all Stop & Shop pick-up associates will wear masks and follow all the same sanitizing precautions as their in-store associates, including surface sanitization and regular hand washing.

Representatives for the company said that due to customer demand, supply may be limited for certain items like disinfecting wipes and other cleaning products which may not be available for purchase. Purchase limits are also still in place for certain high-demand items, and customers are encouraged to allow for comparable substitutions.

A $30 minimum is required on all pick-up orders and a $2.95 service fee will be applied at checkout.
