The NYPD said they have made an arrest following calls to the public for help identifying the person seen in the attached photos who they said was wanted in connection with a sexual abuse pattern identified across certain areas of The Bronx.
Police said that from Jan. 1, 2018 through May 5, 2026, a 10-year-old male, an 11-year-old male, a 13-year-old male, a 13-year-old female, a 16-year-old male, and an 18-year-old male victims were sexually abused by the person listed in the attached photos. The NYPD is requesting help from the public locating the man.
They identified the person as Stephen Charles, a 42-year-old man. Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Saturday, Aug. 1, police said Charles, a resident of the Edenwald section of The Bronx, was arrested Friday, July 31, at 6.46 p.m. in the confines of the 50th Precinct, which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Kingsbridge, Fieldston, Riverdale, North Riverdale, Marble Hill, and Spuyten Duyvil. It also covers Van Cortlandt Park.

Police said Charles has been charged with five counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, six counts of rape, three counts of “course of sexual conduct against a child,” a criminal sexual act, six counts of use of a child in a sexual performance, seven counts of sexual abuse, six counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, six counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Charles is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
