An annual stakeholders event honoring award recipients was held on Wednesday, April 21, as part of NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi’s successful CureViolence program, called Stand Up To Violence (SUV). During the ceremony, the work of dedicated community partners was acknowledged, the progress made over the past year was on display, and the plan for peace in the year ahead was discussed. Newly elected, District 15 councilman, Oswald Feliz, announced on April 22 that he has been selected to join both the City Council’s education committee and the public housing committee. Feliz was declared the winner of the District 15 race earlier this month and is now set to defend his seat in the upcoming June primary. Fordham Anti-Racist Alumni Collective (FAAC) announced on Monday, April 26, that the group had compiled a list of student grievances against the faculty, administration, and staff of Fordham University, which were submitted by victims through the group’s Instagram accounts. “These powerful accounts of racism, sexism, classism, xenophobia, sexual harassment, lack of professionalism and institutional neglect expose Fordham University’s record of failure to hold faculty, administrators and staff accountable for harm caused in the classroom and on campus,” a statement from FAAC read. Woodlawn Cemetery held an “Earth Day Celebration” on Saturday, April 24, 2021, following the official Earth Day on Thursday, April 22. The event took place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and well over 200 people attended.
