Fire Escapes Re-Installed, Tenants Return to Bronx Building

Residents of a University Heights building have returned to their apartments after being displaced for a month and a half when city inspectors discovered that contractors doing repair work had inexplicably removed all of the building’s fire escapes without a permit. Now tenants are organizing in hopes of preventing similar problems down the road.

Be Healthy: USDA Leader Promotes Fresh Food Access in the Bronx

Audrey Rowe, national Administrator of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), visited the Poe Park Greenmarket on Tuesday to view firsthand the types of projects that bring affordable fresh produce to the Bronx.

Bronx SalsaFest Returns to ‘El Condado de la Salsa’

SalsaFest is returning to the Bronx after a successful debut last summer. Sponsored by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Bronx Tourism Council, the 2nd Annual SalsaFest, which runs from Aug. 3 through Aug. 26, features free community events for music lovers in the borough.
