Photos of an apparent supporter of Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Lee Zeldin (NY-1), holding signs which refer to Gov. Kathy Hochul in offensive and derogatory terms, have been shared with Norwood News by those who took the images.

Both were captured during a rally organized in support of Hochul in The Bronx at East 161st Street and Grand Concourse on Oct. 29. One sign refers to the governor as a “c*unt,” and another as a “bi*ch.”

The images were shared with Norwood News by Virginia Krompinger who is the current president of the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club, based in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx. The club’s members have been actively campaigning for Hochul in the lead-up to the general election on Nov. 8.

Krompinger, who said she was present at the rally, told Norwood News, “After the Hochul rally last week in the Bronx, where protesters supporting Zeldin held up despicable signs and shouted disgusting rhetoric that has no place in politics, the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club was even more inspired to help get Kathy Hochul and all Democrats over the finish line, and remind everyone to VOTE.”

Norwood News contacted both the Zeldin campaign and also the New York Rangers, for comment on the images, given the person holding the signs appears to be a fan of the sports team. We will update this story should we receive any feedback.

Meanwhile, video footage of a Zeldin supporter who was apparently assaulted for holding up a sign opposing Hochul during a separate rally in support of the governor, were circulating on social media on Election Day. Zeldin denounced the apparent attack on his supporter, saying, “I have always condemned political violence of any kind, and Kathy Hochul must do the same. Her continued silence on her supporter choking out a woman simply exercising her First Amendment rights makes her complicit in this attack.”

Norwood News reached out to the governor’s office for comment on the incident and will update this story should we receive any response.

Despite Zeldin’s comments on political violence, he has supported former U.S. President Donald Trump, who the January 6th Committee have effectively concluded instigated the Jan. 6th insurrection against the Capitol in hopes of disrupting the validation of the 2020 presidential election. Four Trump supporters died during the riot. A number of other people, including law enforcement officials, also died either during the event or in its aftermath, from various causes.

Meanwhile, in the lead up to Election Day, the congressman has continued his messaging to voters around high crime in efforts to win votes, saying on Nov. 6, “Yesterday, @BillClinton and @KathyHochul were laughing and joking about recent subway crimes. This tells you everything you need to know about how little they care about your life and safety. The countless victims of rampant crime do not think it’s funny. We all deserve better.”

The tweet was accompanied by a snippet of a campaign event during which former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke.

Meanwhile, the congressman has also been talking to reporters about his view that New York’s concealed carry law will get overturned, since he believes it to be unconstitutional.

Later, on Election Day, Zeldin tweeted, “TODAY is the day we FIRE Kathy Hochul, TAKE BACK our streets, END one-party rule, and SAVE Our State! It’s time to restore New York to glory  Get out and VOTE VOTE VOTE.”

The governor, meanwhile, was joined, among others, on Sunday, Nov. 6, by U.S. President Joe Biden at a rally at Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester County, just a few miles drive from The Bronx border. During the event, Hochul sought to simplify the Democrats’ message.

“Do you want to have good paying jobs? Then vote Democrat!” she said. “Do you want to protect our environment for generations to come? Then just vote Democrat! Do you want to make sure that we invest in education, in the highest quality education, supporting our teachers, of anywhere in this country? Then just vote Democrat.”

She continued, “Do you want to make sure that we get guns off the streets and start saving lives? Then, you vote Democrat! And do you want to protect a woman’s right to choose what she wants to do with her own body? Protect her right to re…(amid cheers).. then vote Democrat! And do you want to protect the sanctity of the ballot box, and fight against voter suppression, and protect the essence of our democracy? Then you do what?”

The crowd responded, “Vote Democrat!” Hochul asked, “Is that a simple enough message for everybody? I think we figured it out here. We figured it out.”

Election Day is Nov. 8. Polls are open until 9 p.m. Check your polling site before you go to vote.

The video of the altercation clearly shows that the man is NOT choking the woman, he is pushing her away because she is acting aggressively. It is an optical illusion of that screen shot.

He is acting defensively not offensively.

Thanks Stephanie. We’ve included a link to the video. This was why we reported that the woman was “apparently” attacked. In the cut and thrust of Election Day, we did not have more information at that stage so were just sharing what information we had at that time. We are following up with police as to whether a complaint was filed, and will update the story accordingly.

        Thank you Norwood News.

It’s a confusing video, but if you watch carefully it’s apparent what is happening is not what the screenshot seems to reflect. He is simply pushing her backwards.

Lee Zeldin, Lee Zeldin, Lee Zeldin
    You took the money
    And staged your home gunfight!

    Everybody

Lee Zeldin, Lee Zeldin, Lee Zeldin
    You took the money
    And staged your home gunfight!

No wonder why he runs and hides
    Trump made his lapels
    An inch too wide!
