On Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 12.15 in the afternoon, Rolando Rivera, 45, an off-duty New York City employee was arrested and charged in the 46th precinct, which covers the Fordham, University Heights, Morris Heights and Mount Hope neighborhoods in the Bronx.

According to the police report detailing the arrest, Rivera is an NYPD school crossing guard. He was charged with criminal contempt for disobeying a court order (5 counts), and aggravated harassment (5 counts).

According to the public NYPD employee records, there is just one Rolando R Rivera listed in the system, who, according to the public records, is a first-grade detective, assigned to the Operations & Analysis unit of the NYPD on Jan. 12, 2012. Rivera joined the NYPD on June 30, 1992, became a police officer on May 1, 1995 and was promoted to detective on Jan. 16, 1998. His shield number is 6040.

In terms of recognition and awards, Rivera was recognized for excellent police duty. He has completed a long list of training courses and there were no entries under disciplinary history. In terms of arrests, Rivera has made 109 misdemeanor arrests over the course of his career to date, 89 felony arrests and 2 “other” arrests.

We asked the NYPD to confirm if the shield number for the employee mentioned in their arrest report is 6040. We did not receive an immediate response.

A person arrested and accused of a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
