In his recent State of the City address, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the creation of “Vaccine for All Corps,” an initiative that aimed to create jobs for 2,000 New Yorkers, by supporting vaccination efforts across the five boroughs. On March 10, the City announced that it is now hiring for the first of these positions via nyc.gov/vaccinejobs.

Recruitment for the “Vaccine for All Corps” jobs is being led by the Workforce1 Career Center System operated by the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), and is targeting candidates from those communities hardest hit by COVID-19. According to the City’s press release, no healthcare experience is required for many of the positions, which include roles in site management, operations, and client services, in addition to clinical roles.

Interested jobseekers should visit nyc.gov/vaccinejobs to fill out an interest form to begin the screening process with SBS Workforce1 staff.

Vaccine for All Corps info sessions are being held throughout this week, the final one taking place on March 12. The sessions provide valuable information for community-based organizations and other partners on the various Vaccine for All Corps positions and eligibility requirements. They will also serve to introduce the Workforce1 Career Center System, and representatives will also explain how best to empower community partners to refer qualified candidates for the open positions.

The information sessions are not intended for the jobseekers themselves but for interested partner organizations.

According to City officials, the aim of the “Vaccine for All Corps” initiative is to bring much-needed, job opportunities to the City’s hardest-hit communities, while also ensuring that there are familiar, friendly faces greeting New Yorkers at their local vaccination sites—and in their languages—driving trust among residents and combating vaccination hesitancy.

All jobseekers with operations, customer service, and management experience should apply via nyc.gov/vaccinejobs, including those from the hard-hit sectors, such as restaurant and hospitality workers.
