Norwood: Newly Installed Mosholu Parkway Subway Station Elevators Break Down

ONE OF THE elevators at Mosholu Parkway subway station, located on Jerome Avenue and Mosholu Parkway on the border of Bedford Park and Norwood, The Bronx, is seen out of service on Tuesday evening, Oct. 28, 2025 at around 7.34 p.m. after reports it got stuck with some people inside earlier that evening. The elevators were newly opened last month  by the MTA.

There were no reported injuries, according to the FDNY, after the newly installed elevators at Mosholu Parkway subway station in Norwood got stuck on Tuesday evening, Oct. 28.

 

An FDNY spokesperson said the department received a call at 6.43 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, for a reported stuck elevator at Mosholu Parkway subway station, located at Mosholu Parkway and Jerome Avenue.

 

The FDNY spokesperson said one engine and one ladder responded to the scene and there were no reported injuries. A post on the Citizens’ App indicated that six people had been stuck inside the elevator.

According to the FDNY, the incident was incident was closed at 7.10 p.m.

 

A visit to the subway station later on Tuesday night found both newly installed elevators on each level out of service and a work person seemingly addressing the situation.

 

We spoke to one worker on site who said he was addressing the situation. He did not say what caused the elevators to be out of service.

Norwood News also reached out to the MTA for details but were referred to the FDNY.
