Mt. Hope: Bronx Man Arrested following Fatal Shooting of Pennsylvania Man at Weed Store

A 26-year-old man from The Bronx has been arrested following the fatal shooting in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx of a 23-year-old man from Pennsylvania.

 

Police said that on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at around 00.25 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot at 251 East Tremont Avenue. “Upon arrival, police observed a 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his head,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS also responded and pronounced the male deceased at the scene. A person of interest was taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.”

 

The deceased was later identified as Romel Carey of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

 

On Thursday, Nov. 9, police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Fares Alhazmi, 26, of East Tremont Avenue in The Bronx was arrested in the borough in the early hours of Thursday morning, Nov. 9. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm.

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
