Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a still unidentified man who died seemingly in a hail of gunfire in the Little Yemen section of The Bronx. His body and moped, which may have crashed, were seen covered in a tarp in a nearby area where police had cordoned off the scene.
According to police, the shooting was reported at 6:02 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, outside 672 Sagamore Street in Little Yemen. However, the victim’s body was later seen outside Ramos Twin Auto Sales, located at 665 Sagamore Street at the corner of Birchall Avenue, also in Little Yemen, where the scene was cordoned off.

A police spokesperson said, “Police responded to a 911 call of a male shot.” The spokesperson continued, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 50-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds about the body. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.” Police added that no arrests had been made and the investigation remains “ongoing.”

Detectives and police officers had the intersection blocked off by police vehicles and crime scene tape on Monday. Because of a severe thunderstorm at the time, police had apparently covered the victim and his moped with a large purple tarp, likely to preserve any evidence. The victim appeared to be slumped over the moped, with one of his legs visible to the right of the tarp.
