Latest Edition of the Norwood News is Out!

Dear Fellow Readers,

The latest edition of the Norwood News is out with plenty of community news you can use. We have 20 pages of news and lots to cover.

Our front page cover story focuses on comments made by the head of NYC Health + Hospitals offering assurances that North Central Bronx Hospital is here to stay. The Norwood News  heard directly from the top person at NCBH and some ideas batted around for expansion.

The Norwood News is also excited to announce our 30th anniversary celebration is three weeks away! Save the date for Thursday, November 1. We will be honoring Sally Dunford, Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, and Gary Axelbank. All deserving honorees in their own right! It’s a very special day. Get tickets here.

Inside the cover you’ll find a push to get Bedford Park on the path to preservation. Read about the strategy employed by the Bedford Mosholu Community Association. Meantime, Christy Rae Ammons looks into why premiums for parking went up.

The Norwood News also brings you the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, and Out & About. We hope these features make you the smartest person in the Bronx!

So check out the latest edition of the Norwood News. Comments are always welcome. Send them to dcruz@norwoodnews.org. We’re always eager to read them, and sometimes publish them! And don’t forget to vote!

Norwood News

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
