Fashion For All Foundation (FFA), founded by Hannah Stoudemire and Ali Richmond, have partnered with the NAACP NY State Chapter in lighting the Empire State Building in red, black and green (colors that represent the Pan African Flag) in honor of Black History Month 2021.

According to the organization, it is the second year in a row that FFA has had the honor to light up the building, and the lighting will take place on Thursday Feb. 25.

The Empire State Building will be lit for one evening only, starting at dusk (at 6:07 p.m.) and will shine all evening and throughout the night until dawn. Representatives from FFA said they want to create as much awareness around it as possible, and in advance, so that New Yorkers know to look out for the event and foster celebration, pride and acknowledgment of the Black community’s achievements throughout history.

The lighting will be streamed on social media platforms via the following accounts @fashionforallfoundation @naacp @empirestatebldg. The guest of honor will be Beverly ‘Bevy’ Smith, an American television personality and business woman. Smith is best known for her work as a co-host on Bravo’s fashion-themed talk show Fashion Queens and her Instagram account is @bevysmith.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
