UPDATE Longwood: Pitbull Kills Owner inside Home One Week after Pitbull Concerns Escalated by Cat Rescue Group

Just over one week after an animal rescue group shocked Bronxites with a report that alleged, organized dogfighting and animal cruelty, including the mauling of stray cats by pitbulls, was taking place at a NYCHA complex in The Bronx, a Bronx pitbull owner is dead following a fatal attack by a pitbull inside his apartment in the Longwood section of The Bronx. Arriving police officers shot and killed the dog during the attack, but the still-unidentified victim could not be saved and died later at St. Barnabas Hospital.

BP Holds Historic Flag-Raising Ceremony at Borough Hall to Mark Transgender Day of Visibility

The transgender flag was raised for the first time in front of Bronx Borough Hall on April 1, marking a historic moment for the Bronx transgender community, and coinciding roughly with Transgender Day of Visibility, which is celebrated nationally each year on March 31. Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Fordham Manor: Man Charged for Shooting 2-Year-Old Boy on Fordham Road

Following the arrest of 20-year-old Freddy Flores, as reported, the suspect in the recent shooting of a 2-year-old boy on Fordham Road on Saturday afternoon, March 30, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday, April 19, that he was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, plus additional charges for firing several shots at an intended target, and instead striking the 2-year-old infant in the back as he was walking with his mother that day on Fordham Road, as reported.
