Bronx Graduation Snapshot: Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music

On June 25, the Norwood News sent reporters to chronicle the graduation ceremonies of three Bronx high schools, including Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music. Students at the Ceila Cruz Bronx High School of Music gathered in the Lehman College Performing Arts Center amidst a sea of balloons and flower bouquets to receive their diplomas. Bronx New School Parents Not Satisfied With Health Report

Tension slowly bubbled to the surface during a recent meeting with the state’s Health Department and parents of Bronx New School students. Nearly two years ago, those parents found out their children had spent several hours a day for up to six years in a toxic environment that went undetected by the Department of Education for nearly two decades.

Big Plans for PS/MS 20’s Edible Garden

Vegetables and herbs will soon be growing on the new plant grounds of PS /MS 20’s very own school garden. “The Edible Urban Garden” opened last week with the help and efforts of the school’s new principal Joan Riley, parent Estela Blandon, Maritz Hernandez of the Mosholu Community Center after school program, along with assistant principal, Juan Flores. By implementing the garden, the school hopes to bring new light to eating habits, healthy lifestyles, and organic gardening. The school plans on conducting a cooking lesson that will use the vegetables grown in the garden to serve parents healthy meals prepared by their children. Once grown, the vegetables will be distributed throughout the school.

School Success Reflects Student Success at P.S. 94

School administrators will tell everyone that at PS 94 Kings College School it’s all about ensuring the success and happiness of the kids. The ambitious school is hosting a spelling bee next week all while it participates in LeAP’s Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs program. But the students really showed off last week when they celebrated two major successes — on the same day!
