Inquiring Photographer

By DAVID GREENE This week we asked readers if the city should decriminalize public urination, changing the penalty of those caught in the act to getting a summons, in light of talks on the matter between the NYPD and the City Council. I agree with that because anytime you have to use the bathroom and go to places like some Burger Kings or McDonald’s, you’re not allowed to use the bathroom. Even when you take the train and have to use a bathroom, there’s no bathroom available. They have the key to the bathroom but we can’t use it. The MTA locks

EDITORIAL: A Neighborhood’s Longstanding Plea for a Park Paid Lip Service

There’s a photo buried in the Norwood News archives taken over a decade ago, but completely relevant today. It’s that of an abandoned hatchback vehicle, its windows shattered and bodywork charred, found blocking the entrance to a rundown city-owned lot on Decatur Avenue and Oliver Place. BDCC Dinner What a night at the Bronx Democratic County Committee (BDCC) dinner July 16 at Marina del Rey in Throggs Neck! The political intrigue was kicked up a notch not because of the soiree’s numbers or the bevy of lobbyists and unions in attendance (labor unions were well represented, given all the hootin’ and hollerin’), but from feuding politicos, Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Governor Andrew Cuomo, who made scheduled appearances, though the two coincidentally did not cross paths.
By DAVID CRUZ Sepulveda It comes with a heavy heart that we hear that Bob “Kappy” Kappstatter, former longtime editor and political columnist of the Daily News and most recently The Bronx Times Reporter, has joined the “Dark Side”–public relations. Now a political and media consultant, his first client is Parkchester Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda. Kappy sounds happy in his new role. “After years on being on one side of the fence, it’s now kind of fascinating to be on the inside, and hopefully doing some good.” Good luck Kappy.
