UPDATE New York State Issues Air Quality Advisory & Heat Alert

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an air quality advisory for New York City for Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The pollutant of concern is Ozone. Fordham Manor: Spring Festivities Event held at Devoe Park

With the lifting of COVID restrictions and the return of milder temperatures, Friends of Devoe Park hosted a “Spring Sprouting Festivities” Easter celebration at Devoe Park on Saturday, April 30.   Inside the park, located at University Avenue and Father Zeiser Place in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx, youngsters enjoyed a host of events including face painting, an egg hunt of with eggs filled with bubble-gum, as well as several rounds of musical chairs. Earth Day Celebrated at Woodlawn, Bronx Community College & Across The Bronx

New May 6 Deadline for Summer Youth Employment Program as Mayor Pushes for Safer Streets

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) is reminding applicants that the deadline for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is Friday, May 6, 2022. The nation’s largest summer youth employment initiative is offering 90,000 jobs this summer, with an additional 10,000 opportunities available through other city agencies.   The push is part of the mayor’s blueprint strategy to attain safer streets and to end gun violence, alongside other initiatives like the Saturday Night Lights program. UPDATE Court Orders New Redistricting Maps, Primary Election Postponed to August 23

A new deadline of May 20 for revised 2022 redistricting maps for the congressional and State senate districts has been ordered by the New York State Supreme Court, according to court documents filed April 29, and the 2022 primary date for congressional and State elections has been postponed to Tuesday, August 23.  The court also ordered a new deadline for receipt of overseas and military ballots for the primaries of July 8.   The orders were documented in court paperwork filed with the State of New York Supreme Court, Steuben County on April 29.
