Criticizing West Bx Housing  Although I agree that Ms. [Sally] Dunford [executive director of West Bronx Housing] is “on the ball,” there are many factors that disagree with my experiences recently. The first is that Ms. Dunford or the Mosholu Preservation Corp., did not tell the people of Norwood that they were moving their office to Bedford Park. The new location is also difficult to get to. Having been healing from severe injuries does not make this trek any easier nor were maps indicated in your paper.

By DAVID GREENE This week we asked readers to pick out where some of the borough’s most harrowing potholes can be found following a dismal winter. Personally, I think the worst potholes are in the Boston Road area in the South Bronx. It’s pretty bad especially in the winter time. The potholes can be treacherous. It’s gotten better, but still some areas are still really, really bad. I think most of it comes from all of the construction going on. It’s gotten a lot better, but there can still be some improvement. Dwayne Gittens Melrose

Latest Edition Of The Norwood News Hits Stands, and Online

By DAVID CRUZ The Norwood News is out with 24 pages of community news you can use, happenings and other nuggets of information. What’s intriguing about this edition (just coincidence really) is it’s heavily park-related. Makes sense, given all the parks that Norwood has been afforded these days. We begin with a push to restore some infrastructure issues at Mosholu Parkway, with representatives from the local institutions urging the community for some momentum in getting elected officials to commit to restoring the parkway. Find out what went on at a March 25 community meeting. One of our more attractive features this edition

By DAVID GREENE With news that The Doe Fund is building supportive housing in Norwood for those living with HIV/AIDS, we asked residents whether everyone deserves a decent place to live or if the infected should live elsewhere. I was caught by surprise by this, but it all comes down to one thing: knowing the basics about protection and really following it through. That’s the common law of the whole world; you don’t want to catch something you don’t want so you protect yourself. But this community as a whole accepting a building for that, affordable housing, I think it’s all right, but at the

Inquiring Photographer – Passing the Mid-Winter Point

By David Greene This week we asked readers on how they’ve been coping with all the snow and how the city has dug itself out of a series of snowstorms. Hey, it’s a piece of cake; the city’s doing good. I’ve been getting along fantastic. I don’t own my own home, so I don’t have to shovel. It’s Mother Nature, that’s all. –Sean Slattery, Norwood          I’ve been dealing with it the best I can as far as paying attention to the weather reports and getting out when I have to get there and get back when
