The de Blasio administration today announced that Alternate Side Parking Regulation suspensions will be extended through Sunday, May 17, 2020. Regulation will resume from Monday, May 18 to Sunday, May 24, 2020 for a citywide clean sweep, after which suspensions will continue for another two weeks through Sunday, June 7, 2020. Police responded to a complaint about a felony assault that occurred on May 12, 2020 at approximately 00:03 a.m. at Briggs Avenue within the confines of the 52nd precinct. A 36-year-old male reported to police that he had a verbal argument with a 37-year-old male who punched and slashed the complainant in the face, causing a small laceration to the mouth area. The complainant was transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital by EMS. The suspect was taken into custody. FDNY responded to an alert of smoke exiting the windows of Apt. 10A at 140 W. 174th Street, a 14-story, high-rise, multiple dwelling in Morris Heights at 11:40 a.m. on May 11. Twenty units and 78 members of FDNY were deployed to the scene. One victim was transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital. The fire was brought under control by 12:25 p.m., and the cause is currently under investigation. Norwood News is following up with FDNY on the cause of the fire.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call at around 12:13 p.m. on May, 11 at 1876 Cedar Ave in the Bronx about an emotionally disturbed person. A 32-year-old male was later taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for evaluation.
