Group To Protest Delays on Oval Park Rec Center

The Williamsbridge Oval Park recreational center, which closed for renovations in April of 2010, was supposed to open before the summer of 2011. It remains unclear when the center will re-open, but it doesn’t appear to be any time soon. That doesn’t sit well with the Friends of Williamsbridge Oval Park. They’ll be holding a rally to shed light on the issue Friday afternoon.

Rally Protests Loss of NCBH’s Labor and Delivery Units

“They say cut back, we say fight back,” chanted the crowd of demonstrators who assembled beneath a sea of red New York State Nurses Association flags outside the entrance to North Central Bronx Hospital earlier this afternoon to protest the closure of the hospital’s labor and delivery department and all related newborn services.

Bronx Notes: ‘P-Star Rising’ at Bronx Doc Center

On Saturday at 8:15 p.m., the Bronx Documentary Center, 614 Courtlandt Ave., is showing “P-Star Rising,” a new documentary about Priscilla Diaz, a New York City product who started rapping at an early age and eventually became a television star. The film follows her over the course of four years. After the showing, there will be a Q & A with Diaz and the film’s director, Gabriel Noble. Above is the trailer for the film.
