Bronx Notes: Montefiore Hosts Breastfeeding Expo

Tomorrow 11:30 a.m: Montefiore Medical Center will host a breastfeeding expo to honor annual International World Breastfeeding Week, an event started by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) in 1992 and currently recognized in 120 countries worldwide.

Bronx Notes: National Night Out at Williamsbridge Oval Park

The 52nd precinct will host the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Williamsbridge Oval Park in Norwood. The annual event, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches, is designed to familiarize residents with the NYPD’s services and strengthen police/community partnerships at a time when stop-and-frisk reforms are underway despite the mayor’s opposition.

Early morning commuters rushing through the 4 train’s Bedford Park Boulevard station were greeted Wednesday by a man in a blue button-up shirt who approached them with an outstretched hand and a smile. “How are you? I’m Andrew Cohen, I’m a Democrat running for City Council,” said the candidate, one of three in the running for the 11th District City Council seat which represents the areas of Riverdale, Kingsbridge, Van Cortlandt Park, Norwood, Bedford Park, Wakefield, Woodlawn, and part of Kingsbridge Heights.
