You may be hearing a lot about opioids lately, particularly in the Bronx where more residents die of drug overdoses than in any other borough. Frequently used opioids include illegal drugs like heroin, but also legal drugs like morphine, hydrocodone (such as Vicodin), oxycodone (such as Percocet and OxyContin), and codeine (such as Tylenol #3). One-Year-Old Ingests Heroin, Rushed to Hospital

A one-year-old child is still being treated at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore after reportedly ingesting heroin from his father’s stash. This happened over the weekend at the child’s Tiebout Avenue home in the Fordham section of the Bronx. Police say that the father, 20-year-old Edgardo Rodriguez, confessed that he had no idea that white powder had landed on his bed. Rodriguez reportedly went to sleep after taking heroin with his two kids in bed with him just after midnight. At Fordham Church, Doors Open For Thanksgiving Meal

A large group of volunteers spent the night before Thanksgiving cooking hot meals in their homes before feeding hundreds of residents at the Fordham United Methodist Church, on Marion Avenue in the Fordham Manor section. The crowd turned out on Thanksgiving Day as members of the church hosted their 15th annual Thanksgiving dinner. MMCC and G.O.S.H. Spread Some Thanksgiving Cheer

A thunderous applause filled the second floor hallway of the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC), which was aligned with decorated tables full of canned good and Thanksgiving goodies. The 23rd edition of the Norwood News, covering the Norwood section of the Bronx, is out. We begin with page one and the worst landlords in Norwood.
