Mayor Announces Plan to Provide Care for People with Untreated Severe Mental Illness in NYC

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on Nov. 29 a new pathway forward to addressing what was called the ongoing crisis of people experiencing severe mental illnesses who are left untreated and unsheltered in New York City’s streets and subways. In a public address, Adams detailed what was referenced as a compassionate new vision to tackle the crisis, beginning with a directive issued immediately to city agencies and contractors involved in evaluating and providing care to individuals in psychiatric crisis. Pols: Elevator Needs at Mosholu Pkwy. Station

Plans to install the long-awaited elevator at Mosholu Parkway subway station, which serves the 4 line, and which is located at the border of Jerome Park and Norwood, are finally taking shape according to The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) has charged Queens man, Reynaldo Almonte, 29, in connection with the seizure of approximately 6 kilograms of cocaine (over 13 pounds), and more than $50,000 in cash from his burgundy Nissan sports car while in the West Farms section of The Bronx. The sister of a man living in the Bronx is attempting to reach him as she has not heard from him in a few months.
