Attempted Robbery Foiled at Jerome Avenue Chase Bank

A Brooklyn man is facing attempted bank robbery charges after cops grabbed him before he could catch a 4 subway train. Police say officers from the 52nd Precinct were alerted to the attempted robbery at 3408 Jerome Ave., a Chase Bank, at just before 5 p.m. on May 24. NYPD spokesman, Sgt. Brendan Ryan stated, “[A]n individual walked into the bank and attempted to rob it, passing a note to the teller. 19-Year-Old Charged In February Fordham Killing

Police have made an another arrest in the stabbing death of a teen that happened in February. Police have charged 19-year-old Justin Flores with the murder of 17-year-old Pernell “Blizz” Pompey, which happened on Feb. 13 near the area of East 193rd Street and Decatur Avenue, a known gang and narcotics sales area. “Great job by all involved,” wrote the Five-Two’s official Twitter page of the arrest. New Anti-Gang Initiatives Added to Five-Two’s Arsenal

The presence of gangs across the 52nd Precinct’s jurisdiction has become something of a staple. While the weight of the police force can put a stopgap to gang culture that leads to arrest, the agency has expanded its use of anti-gang groups that, while not necessarily falling under the NYPD, have been given carte blanche to stymie gang violence. Top Cops Hurt, Five Arrested After Wild Chase in Bedford Park

Two police officers were injured and five suspects were quickly tracked down and arrested after a routine traffic stop turned into a wild chase through the streets of Bedford Park. According to police, the incident began at 4:50 p.m. on May 2, when officers on routine patrol “observed a vehicle travel through a steady red light” at the corner of Briggs Avenue and East 194th Street. When officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the vehicle sped off. “He continued to drive in a reckless manor, striking multiple vehicles, evading police and disobeying their orders,” said Det. Police are looking for a man who punched a shopkeeper at the CS 99 Cents Store & Plus in Norwood on April 28, before rushing out. The suspect entered the store at 368 E. Gun Hill Rd. at around 3:35 p.m., picked a pack of t-shirts and pay with what police say was a fake $20 bill. When the employee went to the back to use a counterfeit detector pen, the suspect tried taking back the bill and brazenly tried walking out of the store with the t-shirts in hand.
