Norwood: Gunman Sought in Hull Avenue Daylight Shooting

Police are looking for a brazen gunman who fired into an apartment building on a crowded street in Norwood. According to NYPD spokeswoman, Sergeant Jessica McRorie, the incident was reported at 2.57 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, outside of 3307 Hull Avenue at East 209th Street. No injuries were reported. McRorie said, “An unknown person in a grey sedan did discharge a firearm in the direction of another person and then fled the location.” She added, “There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.” One neighborhood resident said a half dozen young members of the Bloods gang

Investigators from the FDNY’s Fire Marshal unit are investigating the second blaze to strike a commercial business along a popular shopping hub over a three-day period in the Norwood section of the Bronx. FDNY officials reported that the fire broke out inside the W&K Beauty Salon & Barber Shop, located at 6 West Gun Hill Road. On Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at approximately 7.13 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding an aided man inside 315 East 206th Street, apartment 2D, within the confines of the 52nd precinct in the Norwood section of the Bronx. Following reports on Sept. 18 of the defacing of a mural painted in support of Black trans lives on 204th Street and Perry Avenue in the Norwood section of the Bronx, reaction from allies and various public officials was swift. Their message? Hate has no place in Norwood. The following day, a rally was organized at the mural location by Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez, who was joined by a group of about 30, comprising members of the Black trans community, allies, and local leaders for the purpose of “denouncing hate and the defacing of a mural supporting Black trans lives.”
