A second protest in response to a police-involved shooting turned violent on Friday, Sept. 3, when protesters knocked over metal barricades and a police vehicle was doused with gasoline. A 28-year-old man has died following a shooting at Edenwald Houses in the Edenwald section of the Bronx. Police responded to a 911 call regarding the shooting which occurred in front of 1137 East 229 Drive South in the 47th Precinct/Police Service Area 8 on Friday, Sept. 3, at approximately 8.38 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed the 28-year-old with a gunshot wound to his chest. An 11-month-old, approximately 80-pound, female cougar was removed from a New York City home on Thursday, Aug. 26. in coordination with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Bronx Zoo. The NYPD recently confirmed a 41-year-old man died in a Norwood apartment. According to police spokeswoman, Detective Annette Shelton, officers from the 52nd precinct were called to 333 East 209th Street at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 21. Shelton said of the incident, “Upon arrival, a 41-year-old male was discovered unconscious, lying in the hallway of the location.” She added, “EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased.” The deceased man’s name was not immediately released as it was pending proper family notification. Police responded to a call about an assault inside 2550 Bainbridge Avenue, located in the 52nd precinct on Friday, Aug. 13, at approximately 4.09 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, lying unconscious and unresponsive inside the location.
