As the city draws close to a decision on which developer will take over the Kingsbridge Armory, two community groups with a history of animosity and sharply divergent tactics have formed a partnership to become the united voice of the community and negotiate a benefits agreement with the winning bidder.

Bronx Notes: Santa Coming to E. 204th St. Saturday

On Saturday, Dec. 15 from noon to 3 p.m., Santa will be giving small gifts away to all the good children from the area at Leroy Pharmacy, 314 E. 204th St. in Norwood. Leroy provided free food for 20-plus volunteers who helped wrap the gifts on Dec. 8. “I enjoy seeing families happy and sharing the spirit of the holidays,” says Jay Dhaduk, RPH, of Leroy Pharmacy. “We are proud to be in this neighborhood for over 20 years.”

Sparkling the Heart of Fordham Tree Lighting Tonight

The Fordham Business Improvement District jumpstarts the holiday season on Fordham Road with its eighth annual Sparkling the Heart of Fordham Holiday Lights Event tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Muller Park and Plaza (intersection of East Fordham Road and Creston Avenue). Rhina Valentin will be hosting and, yes, she will be accompanied by Santa Claus.

Bronx Biz: On The Fordham Road to Recovery

As Hurricane Sandy whipped through the tri-state area, it left 40,000 in the Bronx without power. Trees went down. They crushed cars. Storefronts were damaged, and branches were ubiquitous. Mostly, businesses were closed. For two days, the city shut down. But despite widespread damage from the storm, Fordham Road — one of the most bustling streets in the borough — began to come back to life swiftly.
